At the inaugural awards ceremony hosted by Move Electric, Autocar’s sister newspaper, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 was selected Best Electric Car.

The Hyundai Kona won the accolade ahead of five other candidates, which included the Porsche Taycan, BMW iX, and Kia EV6. It received high marks for its dynamic performance, modern technology, wide range, and stylish aesthetics.

Hyundai was also voted Best e-Business of the Year for its efforts to develop electric mobility, which have resulted in the introduction of various electric cars under the Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis brands.

Hyundai has invested in electric robotics, driverless vehicles, and technologies for electronic vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) craft in addition to automobiles.

“At Hyundai, there is a very deliberate transition in our approach from ‘car company’ to’mobility company,’ as we attempt to execute on our overarching brand mission to enable freedom of movement to everyone,” said Ashley Andrew, managing director of Hyundai UK.

“We are heavily investing in mobility services, we’re building close relationships with leading mobility service providers and – while it remains at our core – we’re expanding our role beyond the automotive sector.”

The Mercedes-Benz EQXX concept, on the other hand, was named Best Use of Electricity for its remarkable 620-mile real-world range and technology. The compact Citroen Ami was named the winner of the Innovation Award for providing a distinctive alternative to other modes of transportation.

Because of his efforts to prepare Britain’s energy network for higher usage of renewable energy to manage the expanding number of electric cars, Graeme Cooper, the National Grid’s head of future markets, was named Move Electric E-Leader of the Year.

Fully Charged, a rapidly expanding e-bike specialist business, was nominated Best of British for its efforts to encourage UK consumers to switch to electric vehicles.
