After 31,000 Miles Of Testing, The Bugatti Centodieci Is Ready For Production

Will any of the ten Bugatti Centodieci customers put 31,000 kilometers on their ultra-rare hypercar, which costs $8.8 million? Will any of the EB-110-inspired land missiles based on the Chiron even reach 3,100 miles? If we look at the history of such low-volume machines, the answer is almost certainly no. However, this didn’t stop Bugatti from putting a lot of miles on a Centodieci prototype, effectively ending the testing phase.

Bugatti has released ten new photos of the well-traveled Centodieci test car to commemorate the occasion. We’re not sure if this is the same white car that made its premiere at Pebble Beach in 2019, but it’s the same prototype we saw lap the Nürburgring about a year ago.

It’s also the same model as the one we saw in a Freezer. There’s also a desert. There’s also a wind tunnel. This car has been everywhere, and it has now completed its final term at the famed Nardo test circuit in Italy.

“With its high-speed circuit and handling course, the Nardo test center provides the ideal conditions for intensive endurance tests,” said Steffen Leicht, Bugatti’s head of endurance testing.

On the sprawling track, the Centodieci was stress-tested at a rate of 745 miles per day, according to Bugatti. This includes sprints up to the hypercar’s electronically regulated top speed of 236 mph, which is significantly less than the Chiron’s 261 mph limit.

The Centodieci’s exterior bears homage to the legendary EB110 from the 1990s, but underneath it’s a Chiron, right down to the W16 engine producing 1,600 horsepower for all four wheels to handle.

“The Centodieci is deliberately driven to its limits in order to guarantee reliable handling at the highest level, even in extreme situations,” said Carl Heilenkötter, Bugatti’s technical project manager.

“Even though most cars never enter this range, it is nonetheless tested. This is the philosophy of the brand and that is why we put such a huge amount of effort into all this testing. Bugatti is committed to the highest quality standards, durability, and customer satisfaction.”
