Ford Boss “Ai Will Replace Half Of Office Workers”

Ford CEO Jim Farley said artificial intelligence could replace as many as half of all office workers in the United States.
Speaking at the Aspen Ideas Festival, Farley highlighted the potential of artificial intelligence to increase productivity. However, he also made it clear that the technology will not benefit everyone equally. “Artificial intelligence will make many office workers redundant,” he warned. For millions of employees in the offices of car companies around the world, the idea of being replaced by a machine is less and less theoretical.
“Artificial intelligence will replace half of all office workers in the US,” Farley added. Although he did not specify when that might happen, nor did he provide a source for those claims, he noted that, according to a new survey, a third of Americans today would rather recommend a trade school than a four-year college. After all, AI still can’t lay power lines, build factories, or lay water pipes. At least not until humanoid robots become commonplace.
The World Economic Forum estimates that around 40 percent of existing job skills could become obsolete in the next five years, with administrative workers, accountants, cashiers, and postal clerks among the most at risk.
Farley also used the Aspen performance to warn of another challenge: competition from China. He praised their vehicle technology as “far superior” and said the overall quality of Chinese cars surpasses what he sees in the West. Such a statement from the mouth of the most prominent director from Detroit is a real rarity and in itself is very indicative.
