DG NADDC Commissions 2,322 Nigerian-built Gas-powered Buses Procured By RTEAN
DG NADDC, Mr Jelani Aliyu, has commissioned 2,322 Nigerian-built gas-powered buses procured by RTEAN.
Aliyu said that the buses, produced locally by OMAA Motors, will make transportation cheaper for the commuters.
He added that the CNG buses will also save lives and protect the environment because it is a cleaner compared to petrol and diesel.
He further called on all transport associations to emulate the RTEAN by patronizing Made-in-Nigeria Gas Powered Vehicles.
The Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Mr Jelani Aliyu, has commended the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) on the procurement and commissioning of 2,322 Made-in-Nigeria Gas Powered Buses into their fleet.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of the 2,322 CNG powered buses procured for the 774 local governments by the association, Aliyu congratulated the Executive National Chairman of RTEAN, Alhaji Dr. Musa Maitakobi, for the committment to buy the Nigerian built OMAA vehicles.

The DG further called on all transport associations in the country to emulate the RTEAN and key into the National Gas Expansion Program by patronizing Made-in-Nigeria Gas Powered Vehicles.
The DG mentioned that what was witnessed was testimony to the fact that the implementation of the National Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP) by the NADDC is yielding results.
Mr Aliyu also noted that the CNG powered vehicles will make transportation cheaper for the commuters and also save lives and protect the environment because it is a cleaner fuel compared to petrol and diesel.
Aliyu added that as one of the 195 signatories to the Paris Accord on the mitigation of greenhouse gases, Nigeria must leverage on the huge reserves of natural gases as a transition fuel.
