Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 – One of the world’s fastest four-door cars at the time of release.

The legendary Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 sedan was a full-sized luxury performance car built by Mercedes-Benz from 1968 to 1972.

It featured the company’s powerful 6.3-litre M100 V8 from the flagship 600 (W100) limousine installed in the normally six-cylinder powered Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL (W109).

The result was a nearly 2-ton sports sedan with muscle car performance. At the time of its release, the premium Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL (W109) was one of the world’s fastest four-door cars.

Its performance includes a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.6 seconds and 0-100 mph (160 km/h) in 14.6 seconds. The 300 SEL 6.3 had a top speed of 220 km/h (136.7 mph).

An AMG version, the 300 SEL 6.9 AMG racing touring car, was also one of Mercedes-Benz cars that confirmed the brand’s reputation as a game changer.
