BRT Bus Fare Returns To Normal Rate On Saturday 1st April 2023 – LAMATA
BRT bus fare set to return to normal rate on Saturday 1st April 2023, says Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority.
LASG had on 8th Feb. reduced transport fares of BRT, Boat and LAGRIDE by 50% due to the ongoing fuel, naira note scarcity.

The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) on Tuesday (today) March 28th has announced that the BRT bus fares will revert to 100 per cent (normal) rate on Saturday 1st April 2023.
Recall that Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had on Wednesday, 8th February 2023 approved a 50% slash in bus fares following the cash crunch brought about by the recent currency swap.
A statement posted to LAMATA’s social media platforms reads :
“With effect from Saturday, 1st April, bus fare on all regulated buses BRT, Standard and FLM – shall revert to 100 per cent rate.”

“Following the Supreme Court and Federal Government’s pronouncements on the use of old notes alongside the new notes and return of stability to the system, the 50% rebate is hereby discontinued.”
“Consequently, bus fares return to pre-50% slash rate effective Saturday 1st April 2023. Thank you for your understanding.”
While announcing the reduction in BRT bus fare last month, Sanwo-Olu said that the provision was put in place to cushion the effects of the fuel and naira scarcity in the country.
“To support you in weathering these stormy days, I hereby announce a 50% cut in fares on all our BRT buses, LAGRIDE taxi-scheme, First Mile and Last Mile buses, and Lagos Ferry Services (LAGFERRY).”
