Next-gen Toyota Prado Reportedly Delayed To Mid-2024, May Get A New Name
5th-generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado reportedly delayed to Mid-2024, reviously due for a mid-2023 reveal.
Report suggests a change in official name from Prado to Toyota Land Cruiser 250 Series in the Japanese market.
Upcoming 2024 Toyota Prado SUV to replace the 4th-generation model that arrived in some market in 2009.
New Prado will reportedly ditch the 2.7-litre ‘2TR-FE’ for a 2.4-litre turbo-petrol found in the Lexus NX and Toyota Kluger.
4th-gen available in some markets in 5/3-door variants, with the 5-door variant offered in TXL & VXL grades in the Nigerian market.
It seems Toyota has pushed the introduction of the 5th-generation Land Cruiser LC 300-based Prado back to April 2024, according to a report from Japanese industry publication, Magazine X.
The report also suggests the popular SUV will change its official name from Toyota Land Cruiser Prado to Toyota Land Cruiser 250 Series in the Japanese market.

Previously due for a mid-2023 reveal, the upcoming 2024 Toyota Prado SUV is set to replace the fourth generation model that arrived in every market except the US and Canada back in 2009.
In the home market, Japan, the new Prado will reportedly ditch the 2.7-litre ‘2TR-FE’ naturally aspirated petrol four-cylinder (also used in Prado models in Nigeria) for a 2.4-litre turbo-petrol found in the Lexus NX and Toyota Kluger.
Though, the 2.8-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder is set to remain on the menu, some media reports suggest that the new Toyota Prado will pick up the Tundra’s powerful 3.5-litre V6 hybrid.
The current, fourth generation is available in some markets in two base variants, five-door and three-door, with the five-door variant offered in TXL & VXL grades in the Nigerian market. This generation of the Prado is badged as the Lexus GX 460 with luxury trim in the US.
