Pepsi Now Boasts 21 Tesla Semi Zero-emission Electric Trucks That Runs 12 Hours A Day - autojosh

PepsiCo now boasts 21 Tesla Semi zero-emission electric trucks with 500-mile range in its fleet that runs 12 hours a day.

Beverage company runs three of them on a long haul routes that ranges from 250 miles to 450 miles.

It takes 20-30 minutes to top up from “like 5% or 10%” to 95% battery capacity on 750kW Megacharger stations.

PepsiCo in a statement said it reserved 100 of the trucks in 2017, adding that it expects to deploy an initial 15 by the end of 2022.





After three years of delays, Tesla delivered its first all-electric truck to PepsiCo at an event last December, five (5) years after CEO Elon Musk unveiled the company’s much-delayed long hauler, Semi Truck.

While confirming the delivery of Tesla’s all-electric Semi trucks in December, PepsiCo said in a statement it has reserved 100 of the trucks in 2017, adding that it expects to deploy an initial 15 by the end of the year.





Currently, the Food and Beverage company has 21 Tesla Semi trucks with 500-mile range each in its fleet, three of which runs for “about 12 hours a day” on long haul routes that range from 250 miles to 450 miles.

According to one Semi driver, it takes 20-30 minutes to top up a Tesla Semi electric rig from “like 5% or 10%” to 95% battery capacity on the dedicated solar-powered 750kW Megacharger stations that Pepsi uses for them.

PepsiCo, aiming to reduce fuel costs and emissions, said that the trucks would be used at its Frito-Lay plant in Modesto, California, and its PepsiCo beverages factory in Sacramento. PepsiCo.

Other companies that also placed preorders for Tesla’s zero-emission electric trucks includes United Parcel Service Inc (UPS), Walmart Canada and food service distributor, Sysco Corp.
