Official: Mercedes-Benz Denies Twin-Turbo V8 Will Return To The C63 AMG

Suddenly there was a rumor that Mercedes-AMG would still provide the C63 with a twin-turbo V8 and that the new top version of the E-class, still shrouded in mystery, would also get an eight-cylinder. Now the word is out with Mercedes itself: it is really different.

For a moment it seemed that fans of the V8 from Mercedes could breathe a sigh of relief because the four-cylinder plug-in hybrid Mercedes-AMG C63 and the not-yet presented next E63 would get a V8 after all. For the C63 it would mean an early adjustment, the E63 would have been intended with V8 from the outset. It is really different, says the CEO of Mercedes-AMG in a conversation with The Drive.

Michael Schiebe indicates that he believes the right choices have been made and that Mercedes will not go back on that. “There are more and more performance plugins coming out, so I think we were right when we decided to go in that direction.” The top version of the E-class is also almost certainly introduced to electric power. This is where the beating heart becomes, it is understood from a source with internal information, not a four but a six-cylinder. The M256 engine to be precise, is the six-in-line that is in the current Mercedes-AMG E53, among others.
