The German car manufacturer BMW announced today that it delivered 590,962 vehicles in the second quarter of 2026, which is 4.9 percent less than in the same period last year, primarily due to a large drop in sales on the Chinese market.

Sales in China fell by as much as 30 percent year-on-year, to 117,815 vehicles, while weaker demand was also recorded in the rest of Asia, Wirtschaftswoche reports.

The results in Europe and the United States partially offset the decline in sales in Asia.

BMW delivered 260,173 vehicles in Europe in the second quarter of 2026, an increase of 5.4 percent compared to last year, while sales in the United States increased by 9.5 percent to 134,405 cars.

Among the brands within BMW, Mini achieved sales growth of 17 percent, to 81,035 vehicles, while sales of the core BMW brand decreased by 7.7 percent, to 508,675 cars.

The company from Munich still achieved a slightly better result compared to other German car manufacturers.

Mercedes-Benz said earlier this week that its sales in the second quarter of 2026 fell six percent to 511,900 vehicles, while Audi recorded a drop of more than eight percent to 367,139 cars delivered.
