The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has approved the promotion of 7,472 personnel comprising 2,134 Officers and 5,338 Marshals, in a major career progression exercise aimed at rewarding merit, strengthening professionalism and boosting the Corps’ leadership structure. The promotion recognises the dedication, competence and years of service of personnel who have distinguished themselves in their duties.

Heads of Departments, Corps Officers, Heads of Special Units and Commanding Officers have been directed to decorate the newly promoted personnel under their commands from Wednesday, 26 August to Friday, 28 August 2026. The decoration will be conducted in accordance with the Administrative Instruction on the Decoration of Newly Promoted Officers and Marshals.

The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, described the promotion as both a reward and a responsibility, stressing that every new rank must translate into higher professionalism, accountability, leadership and service delivery. He congratulated the promoted personnel and charged them to see their elevation as a mandate to do more, lead better and serve with greater distinction.

According to him, “the strength of FRSC is not measured only by patrol vehicles, technology or enforcement systems, but fundamentally by the quality, character and commitment of its personnel.” He reminded the newly promoted Officers and Marshals that every additional stripe, pip or insignia represents increased expectations from the Corps, the Federal Government and the Nigerian people.

The Corps Marshal urged the promoted personnel to demonstrate discipline on and off the road, treat members of the public with dignity, uphold the integrity of the Corps and remain committed to safer roads. He emphasised that promotion should continue to build a professional, responsive and performance-driven institution capable of meeting Nigeria’s evolving road safety needs.

The promotion comes as the Corps intensifies operational, technological and public enlightenment interventions aimed at reducing road traffic crashes and improving compliance with traffic regulations nationwide. FRSC said a motivated workforce remains central to achieving measurable improvements in road safety outcomes. The newly promoted personnel are expected to carry their responsibilities with renewed purpose.
