More Than Half Of All New Ferrari Vehicles Are Hybrids
More than half of all new Ferrari vehicles worldwide are now hybrids, reports the exclusive Italian brand. The development of the first fully electric Ferrari is also going well.
Even an exclusive brand like Ferrari cannot avoid making its sales results public. Just like BMW, after a month of calculations, it can look back on a healthy third quarter, with 5 percent more cars sold than in the same period last year. In total, Ferrari sold 10,418 cars in the first nine months of 2023, 5 percent more than in 2022. For the third quarter, this concerns 3,459 units, an increase of 9 percent.
The effect of electrification is now also unmissable at Ferrari. Hybrid models do not yet play the largest role in the range; the 812, Roma, the new Purosangue, and the now-out-of-production Portofino are still powered by petrol engines. However, the hybrid models that are already available, the SF90 and the 296, play a major role in sales. Ferrari mentions 51 percent of the total, which is all due to the variants of these models. The chance that this share will fall is secretly high because the Purosangue is expected to provide a large, albeit not too large, share.
Automotive News Europe reports that Ferrari is also doing well in the field of fully electric models. Such a fully electric Ferrari does not yet exist, but it is no secret that it is being worked on. CEO Benedetto Vigna is said to have said, “Ferrari’s first EV project is going as planned, but some parts are even ahead of schedule.” For the time being, we assume that the first Ferrari EV will arrive in 2025.
