LASG Ends 25 Per Cent Discount On Transport Fares On BRT, Blue Line Train On Monday Jan 29th

From Monday 29th January 2024, transport fare on regulated public transport in Lagos State return to 100%.
The 25 percent rebate on regulated public transport buses, ferry and train ends on Sunday, 28th January 2024.
Sanwo-Olu had on the 31st of July announced a 50% rebate as a palliative measure against the effect of fuel subsidy removal.
The 50% rebate, which ran for 6-months, was replaced with 25% rebate in November, following appeals for its reinstatement.
The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), has announced that fares on regulated public transport in Lagos State will return to normal rate on Monday 29th January 2024.
A statement by LAMATA on Friday 26th titled : “25% fare rebate on transport ends January 28”, which announces the end of the 25 percent rebate reads :
“The 25% rebate on regulated public transport buses, ferry and train ends on Sunday, 28th January 2024. From Monday, 29th January 2024, transport fare on regulated services return to 100%.
“Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had on the 31st of July 2023 announced a 50% rebate as a palliative measure against the effect of fuel subsidy removal and had ran for six months.”
Recall that Governor Sanwo-Olu had on November 7th approved a 25% passenger fare reduction for the regulated bus and rail transport services following appeals for the reinstatement of the 50% rebate, which ended on Sunday November 5th 2023.
The statement by LAMATA titled with : “Lagos approves 25% fare rebate for regulated bus and rail transport, reads :
“Responding to calls for the reinstatement of the 50% rebate on
fare for regulated bus and rail transport, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has directed the implementation of 25 per cent discount beginning Tuesday, 7th November 2023.
In a statement by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) in November, the State Government sited an increase in the pump of diesel from N867 in August to N1,300 in November 2023 for the withdrawal of the 50% rebate.
