FRSC Impounds Vehicles With Fake And Unauthorised Number Plates In Abuja - autojosh

Again, FRSC, in collaboration with NPF, impounds vehicles with fake and unauthorised number plates in FCT.

Special operation, which began on February 3rd 2025, targeted vehicles with fake registration numbers.

In the first one month, FRSC seized 350 vehicles with unauthorised vehicle registration (plate) numbers. 





FRSC said that the nationwide operation will not only enhance road safety but also national security.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), in collaboration with the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) on Tuesday (today) March 11, 2025 clamped down on vehicles operating with fake and or forged vehicle registration numbers within FCT.

The special operation, which began on Monday February 3rd 2025, targeted vehicles with fake registration numbers and illegal use of number plates by private, commercial, government and diplomatic vehicles.

“This operation is target at ensuring that only legitimately registered vehicles drive on Nigeria roads thereby enhancing general security and safety,” FRSC said in a statement.





Last week, the Corps Public Education Officer, Mr Olusegun Ogungbemide, in an interview with newsmen in Abuja, said that the agency impounded 350 vehicles since it commenced the special operation.

“We impounded vehicles using fake diplomatic numbers, unrecognised number plates,” he said, adding that “We don’t know where they were printed from and we don’t know who gave them the permission.”

“The initial intervention, which began in Abuja, targeted vehicles bearing fake diplomatic numbers, unrecognised number plates, and other related infractions.”
