Ford is now releasing an over-the-air update for all 2022 and 2023 F-150 Lightning owners, following its initial rollout to early access program participants in October.

The standout feature of this upgrade is the enhanced charging curve, made possible by a boost in current from 450 amps to a powerful 500 amps. This significant increase translates to remarkably faster DC charging, allowing electric vehicles to power up with greater efficiency and speed.

With the recent update, the experience of charging an electric vehicle on a powerful 350kW DC charger has become noticeably quicker. What once required a lengthy 45 minutes to go from a 10% to an 80% charge has now been trimmed down to just under 40 minutes. While the difference may not appear monumental at first glance, this enhancement is a refreshing change that makes a significant impact on the charging experience.

In a significant update, the earlier 2022 and 2023 models of the F-150 Lightning are now harmoniously aligned with the innovative 2024 edition, which boasts an impressive and rapid charging curve right from the factory. This enhancement not only elevates their performance but also redefines the electric driving experience, ensuring that every journey is faster and more efficient.
