Official: BMW XM Is The Brand’s Worst Selling Vehicle

BMW managed to retain its No. 1 position in 2024 in total luxury vehicle sales. While deliveries fell 2.3 percent to 2,200,217 vehicles, the competition was also in decline. And best of all, across the model range, all but two models suffered declines. One of those that saw sales growth was the XM.
A new document from BMW’s 2024 annual report shows that the extreme plug-in hybrid SUV grew by 15.8 percent to 7,813 units. Despite this “jump in popularity,” the big M model is still at the bottom of the list. Even the Z4 fared better, ending the year with 10,482 roadsters delivered, or 4.3 percent fewer than in 2023.
It should also be noted that the XM sales surge is not a complete surprise. The XM hit the market in the spring of 2023, making 2024 its first full year of availability. But even with such ‘growth’, the XM is counting down the rest of its career. Worst of all, the owner’s experiences aren’t exactly great either.
