Stefan Weckbach appointed as Mercedes-AMG CEO and the Head of Mercedes-Benz’s Top End Vehicle (TEV) Group.
Weckbach will assume office on July 1 2026, replacing Michael Scheibe, who has been in the role since March 2023.
As TEV Head, he would oversee development of models from Mercedes-AMG, Mercedes-Maybach as well as the G-Class and S-Class.
Before joining the VW, Weckbach led the development of several Porsche models, including the Cayenne and Taycan EV.
Mercedes-Benz has announced the appointment of Stefan Weckbach as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of its high-performance Mercedes-AMG brand, effective on July 1 2026.
Weckbach will replace Michael Schiebe, who joined the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG on December 1 2025 responsible for Production, Quality & Supply Chain Management.
The German brand said Weckbach will also become Head of the Top End Vehicle (TEV) Group, whose portfolio features ultra-luxury and high-performance models from the Mercedes-AMG, Mercedes-Maybach as well as the G-Class and S-Class.
“By appointing Stefan Weckbach, we gain an outstanding leadership personality for Mercedes-AMG,” said Jörg Burzer, who is responsible for Development & Procurement and Chief Technology Officer.
“He combines deep product knowledge with strong strategic capabilities and brings exceptionally broad experience in developing and shaping the performance and luxury segments.”
“He has consistently demonstrated his ability to advance corporate and product projects with ease as well as driving forward complex vehicle programs. This combination makes him the ideal choice to develop the Mercedes-AMG, Mercedes-Maybach, and the G-Class product division”.
Before joining the Volkswagen Group in 2023, Weckbach was with Porsche for 15 years, during which he led the development of several models, including the Boxster, Cayman, Cayenne and the Taycan EV.
Until Weckbach assumes office in seven months time on July 1 2026, Michael Scheibe, who has been in the role since March 2023, will continue to manage the affairs of Mercedes-AMG on an interim basis.
