Renault Is Entering The Defense Market

French car manufacturer Renault will join the defense industry sector through a new partnership with the domestic military company Turgis/Gaillard
It is about cooperation on the development and production of military drones, which represents a significant strategic turn for one of the most famous European automobile companies, reports Reuters.
This project will be carried out at the initiative of the French Ministry of the Army and under the supervision of the General Directorate of Armaments (DGA), the key state institution responsible for the procurement and development of military equipment in France.
In this project, the French authorities are counting on Renault’s industrial capacity, experience in mass production, and cost optimization, which, according to Reuters, are key factors at a time when European countries are rapidly strengthening their defense capabilities.
Drones have become a central element of modern warfare, and the demand for their rapid and serial production is growing rapidly.
The Renault company announced that it is not entering into the development of the weapons production program independently but in a partnership with the Turgis/Gaillard company, reports Tanjug. The Renault company did not specify whether the production will take place exclusively in France or in cooperation with partners outside the country, but it was confirmed that the project has the full support of the French state and that it fits into a broader plan to strengthen the domestic and European defense industry.
