Skoda Octavia Hybrid Coming Soon
The Skoda Octavia will soon get a hybrid drive, and technical director Johannes Neft confirmed that customers can expect both hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of the popular sedan and Combi version.
The hybrid powertrain will be the same one that debuts in the Volkswagen Golf and T-Roc. It combines a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, an electric motor, and a 1.6 kWh battery. The system will be available in 136 hp or 170 hp versions.
The plug-in hybrid Octavia will use a powertrain identical to that of the Golf eHybrid, with a 19.7 kWh battery and an electric range of up to 142 kilometres, making the model competitive in company car tax classes.
Diesel engines remain on offer for the foreseeable future, and the electric Octavia, announced by the Vision O concept at the Munich Motor Show, is not expected before the start of the next decade.
