Toyota Corolla Celebrates 60 Years Of Existence

* Toyota Corolla celebrates its 60th birthday as the best-selling car in the world, with more than 57 million units sold worldwide

* An important anniversary is marked by the launch of a limited series of models called “60 Anniversary”. The Jubilee Corolla is offered in Hatchback, Touring Sports and Sedan versions, which will be recognizable by unique styling elements, upgraded equipment packages and badges that recall the model’s history.

Toyota Corolla is proudly celebrating its 60th birthday this year, and not just because of the fact that it is the best-selling car in the world. To date, more than 57 million vehicles bearing that name have been sold worldwide.

To mark the Corolla’s golden anniversary, Toyota is launching special editions of its European models in Hatchback, Touring Sport and Sedan versions, highlighting exclusive styling features, enhanced specifications and historical details.

The continued success of the Corolla is based on the principles that Toyota applied during the creation of the original model back in 1966. The vision at the time was to create a high-quality, versatile car at an affordable price that offers added value. Today, 12 generations later, the Corolla remains true to those qualities, constantly adapting over the years to meet the changing needs and priorities of customers and maintain its place at the very top of the market.

Today, Corolla is a global model, produced in 12 locations worldwide and sold in 150 countries and regions. Europe is a key market where the Corolla has been one of the most important models in Toyota’s range for decades. Since its modest arrival on the European market in 1967, it has grown into a synonym for superior quality, durability and reliability, regularly ranking among the best-selling models on the Old Continent.

Corolla is also the most important model in Toyota’s production program in Europe. Production began with the seventh generation model at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey (TMMT) plant in 1994, and then expanded to the Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK (TMUK) plant in 1998.

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Corolla, Toyota presents special editions of the Hatchback, Touring Sports and Sedan, with unique design elements, legendary badges and enriched equipment packages.

The Hatchback and Touring Sports versions dedicated to the 60th birthday are clearly distinguished from other Corolla models by an exclusive, new blue metallic color (Boreal Blue), applied to a two-tone body with a contrasting roof and pillars in the color of the night sky (Night Sky Black). The special status of these models is emphasized by the new 17-inch 10-spoke aluminum rims, contrasting matte machined details, as well as chrome-plated black wheel nuts. The Corolla’s sporty styling is characterized by new matte silver trim on the lower front bumper and side sills, as well as dark trim around the fog lights, rear door corners and rear bumper. The Touring Sports also has a matte silver detail on the lower part of the rear bumper. On the outside, a nice finishing touch is the stylish, matte silver “60th Anniversary” sticker on the lower edge of the rear door.

The car features elegant matte silver door sill plates with 60th anniversary markings, as well as black textile front and rear floor mats with matching matte silver inserts.

The classy Corolla Sedan features a signature color (Lunar Sky Blue) and shares most of the special design cues with sister Hatchback and Touring Sports models, including exterior trim details such as 17-inch wheels, 60th anniversary badging, door sill guards and floor mats. In addition, there is a matte silver strip along the bottom edge of the trunk lid.

Buyers have additional color options for the versions presented on the occasion of the 60th birthday of the Corolla: they are premium Platinum White Pearl and Ash Gray Metallic.

The Corolla uses Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid technology, providing a characteristically quiet, pleasant and highly efficient drive. Customers of the Hatchback and Touring Sports versions have two options: a 1.8-liter system that offers 140 hp, and for those looking for sporty performance, a two-liter variant with a maximum of 178 hp is available. In addition to the 1.8-liter hybrid drive, the Sedan is also equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine.

The high-level equipment package for the latest anniversary series Corolla provides a fully digital user experience as standard. The list of equipment includes a 12.3-inch adaptive dashboard and the Toyota Smart Connect+ multimedia system with a 10.5-inch touchscreen. The multimedia package includes Internet navigation, which provides the latest information on traffic conditions, as well as a built-in route planning system.

The comprehensive package T-Mate, Toyota’s system of active safety and driving assistance, is provided as a standard part of the equipment. This package includes Toyota Safety Sense features designed to detect and respond to numerous driving hazards, alerting the driver and helping them avoid or mitigate the consequences of a potential collision. These functions include the Pre-Collision System & Intersection Collision Avoidance, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert and Lane Trace Assist, as well as Emergency Steering Assist and Road Sign Assist. New and improved security and multimedia features are seamlessly downloaded and updated over the Internet.

Special 60th anniversary versions of the Corolla will soon be available to order, with first deliveries beginning at the end of October.
