Raids is part of investigations into allegations of corruption and illicit enrichment involving current and former parliamentary officials.

A Rolls-Royce Cullinan Series II and Range Rover SUVs were amongst items seized from the residence of former Ugandan speaker, Anita Annet Among, who served from 2022 to 2026, following a multi-hour search by a joint security teams.

The raids by security agencies are reportedly part of investigations into allegations of corruption, illicit enrichment, abuse of office, and money laundering involving current and former parliamentary officials.

Across X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram platforms, trending pictures and videos of the seized ultra-luxury SUVs behind police trucks kept popping up on our feed, as anti-corruption probe gathered momentum.

At the center of the controversy are the now-infamous “service awards” controversially shared among Parliamentary Commissioners in 2022 and 2023, according to AllAfrica report.

“Security teams are examining financial records, property acquisitions, and digital communications, with particular focus on allegations that large amounts of cash may have been concealed in private residences or moved through unofficial channels,” a detective privy to the investigations told AllAfrica on condition of anonymity.

The current investigations are reportedly being conducted following directives from Yoweri Museveni, who was sworn in as Uganda’s President for a record seventh consecutive term last week.

Museveni, who has been the President of Uganda for 40 years (since 1986), recently intensified public messaging against corruption and misuse of public resources within state institutions.
