Africa richest Person, Aliko Dangote spotted with his latest car, a Chinese-made Leopard 8 (Bao 8) plug-in hybrid SUV.
Leopard 8 (Bao 8) is plug-in hybrid ultra-luxury SUV built by BYD Auto’s Fang Cheng Bao (Formula Leopard) brand.
Positioned as a luxury SUV, designed to rival Land Cruiser 300 Series, Leopard 8 (Bao 8) is known in markets outside China as Denza B8.

Nigerian businessman, Aliko Dangote, was recently filmed arriving at an event in Lagos in his new Fang Cheng Bao Leopard 8 (Bao 8), a plug-in hybrid ultra-luxury SUV built by BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao (Formula Leopard) brand.
In another video seen by Autojosh, which was also filmed and shared by popular Lagos-based Car Spotter, the 69 year old Kano-born businessman was also captured departing the same event in the Bao 8 SUV.

Dangote’s preference for the Bao 8 highlights the shift from traditional European luxury brands to Chinese ones fueled by a desire for vehicles with superior smart technology and tested performance.

With a net worth of nearly US$$30.9 billion as of May 2026, the 69 year old chairman of the Dangote Group conglomerate is Africa’s richest person and the 69th wealthiest Black individual, according to Forbes.
Positioned as a luxury SUV and designed to rival Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series, Dangote’s new Fang Cheng Bao Leopard 8 (Bao 8) is a luxury, full-size 7-seat (or 6-seat) plug-in hybrid 4WD SUV known in markets outside China as Denza B8.

In China, Bao 8 starts at around 380,000 yuan ($53,200) for the 7-seat version and up to 399,800 yuan ($56,000) for the 6-seat version with captain chair configuration – before customizations, although over N120 million Naira will be needed to own one in Nigeria.
B8’s plug-in powertrain combines 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo engine plus dual electric motors, producing 603 HP and 760 Nm torque. Its 36.8 kWh – 36.9 kWh battery-pack offers 100km+ pure electric range and a combined range over 900km to 1,200km.

Inside, it boasts 17.3-inch multimedia screen, 12.3-inch driver display, 12.3-inch touchscreen for the front passenger, 18-speaker DEVIALET sound system and a 50-inch augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD), as part of its premium, high-tech interior.
In addition, Denza B8 boasts 14 airbags and supports Huawei Qiankun ADS 3.0 system, a highly advanced driving assistance technology that allows automated driving on highways and autonomous remote parking.
