Sales At Audi Are Struggling. The Solution May Be In New SUVs
Audi sales have slumped for two years due to stiff competition, but the automaker is poised for a recovery. Audi of America President Vito Paladino expects the brand’s updated SUV lineup—led by the redesigned Q5 and new Q9—to regain critical market momentum.
President Paladino’s optimism is rooted in the automaker’s refreshed SUV portfolio. Following the 2025 redesign of the best-selling Q5 and the subsequent introduction of the Q3, Audi is now strategically expanding its market presence with the redesigned Q7 and the all-new Q9.
The Q9 holds significant promise for the brand. While initial public reception regarding its styling has been varied, hands-on evaluation suggests the vehicle excels across key metrics, offering what is arguably the most refined in-cabin experience in the current Audi lineup.
Tailored specifically for the U.S. market, the Q9 is a full-size, three-row luxury SUV featuring versatile powertrain options and sophisticated technology. Even the entry-level trim is exceptionally well-appointed, boasting high-quality displays, a premium audio system, and an expansive panoramic roof.
Despite stiff competition from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Genesis, Audi can recover by successfully executing its strategic vision for its refreshed SUV lineup.
