A Guide On How To Wear Seat Belt When Pregnant
All passengers in a vehicle, including pregnant women, must use seat belts.
Some may argue that a pregnant lady should not wear a seat belt. On the contrary, wearing a seat belt when pregnant is safer. To avoid causing harm to the fetus, the pregnant mother only needs to wear it correctly.
According to statistics, wearing your seat belt reduces your chances of getting harmed in an accident and/or the severity of your injuries.
It is strongly advised that the driver and all passengers wear seatbelts at all times while on board. Seat belts save lives and minimize the severity of crashes.
- Always buckle up, especially if you’re in the rear seat. A lap and shoulder belt combination is the safest form of seat belt to wear.
- Place the lab belt beneath your belly button, such that it touches your thighs. Raise your belly button and make sure your lap belt is low and level on top of your thighs. Never put your belt above or across your stomach.
- Pull the shoulder belt upwards to tighten the lap belt.
- The shoulder belt should be positioned between the breasts.
- If possible, tilt the steering wheel higher.
- Maintain as much uprightness as possible in the car seat. In the event of a collision, reclining increases the risk of the lap belt rubbing against the uterus.
- Keep your belly button a safe distance away from the steering wheel while you’re driving.
- Never wear your shoulder belt behind your back or beneath your arm.
