Back in September 2019, Toyota Motor Corporation declared that Australia was the region with the highest number of Land Cruiser sales while announcing that its longest-selling car had crossed 10 million global sales.

These sales numbers in Australia over the course of the past 68 years (as at 2019) include numbers from Land Cruiser Prado, 200, and 70 series, the latter is available as a SUV and pickup truck.

“Toyota Motor Corporation today announced Australians have bought more Land Cruisers than any other country as the iconic vehicle brand passes 10 million global sales.

“Local sales exceed 1.065 million vehicles, an impressive 10.6 per cent of the global tally that includes today’s Land Cruiser Prado, 70 Series and 200 Series and their predecessors.”

The legendary Land Cruiser remains a vehicle of choice in Australia due to its Quality, Durability and Reliability. During a test carried out by Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), the vehicle had 88% children safety and 89% score for adult safety.

In addition to personal use, Toyota notes that in Australia, the Land Cruiser is used in underground mines for transporting zinc and copper and on vast cattle ranches of 8,000 square kilometers to herd cattle.

Launched on August 1, 1951 as the Toyota “Jeep BJ”, the Land Cruiser is sold in approximately 170 countries and regions worldwide, including Nigeria, with annual global sales standing at approximately 400,000 units.

In addition to being a bestseller in Australia, Toyota’s tested and trusted off-roader also top the charts in United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar.

While the majority of production takes place in its home country, Japan, CKD (Completely Knocked Down) production of the Toyota Land Cruiser also takes place in Kenya and Portugal.
