BMW’s Spartanburg Plant in US exported 227,029 vehicles worth $9.6 billion in 2022, the highest by any automaker.
60% (227,029 units) of the total 416,301 SUVs produced at Spartanburg plant were shipped to 120 global markets.
Most of the Sports Utility Vehicles were exported to Germany, China, South Korea, Canada, and Great Britain.
Vehicles produced at the plant includes BMW X models, Motorsport X models, and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle X models.
Spartanburg facility has an annual production capacity of up to 450,000 vehicles and employs more than 11,000 people.

BMW says its Spartanburg plant in South Carolina exported 227,029 vehicles with an export value of nearly $9.6 Billion last year, making the automaker the largest automotive exporter by value in the United States of America for the ninth consecutive year.
Most of the BMW Sports Activity Vehicles and Coupes produced at the Spartanburg plant in 2022 were exported to home market, Germany (15.5%), followed by China (13.5%), South Korea (12.8%), Canada (7.5%), and Great Britain (5.6%).
“Free trade and open markets enable growth and prosperity. BMW and South Carolina are a good example of this,” said Milan Nedeljković, BMW AG Board Member for Production.
“I am proud of the Spartanburg plant’s continued performance, which contributes to the success of the BMW Group.”

With an annual production capacity of up to 450,000 vehicles and more than 11,000 employees, the BMW Manufacturing in South Carolina is the largest BMW Group plant in the world, producing more than 1,500 vehicles each day. Since 1992, the BMW Group has invested nearly $12.4 billion in its South Carolina operations.
Nearly 60 percent (227,029 units) of the total 416,301 vehicles produced at Spartanburg plant last year were shipped to about 120 global markets. The model portfolio produced at the plant includes six top-selling BMW X models, five Motorsport X models, and three plug-in hybrid electric vehicle X models.
