BYD Targeting Europe With YangWang And Fangchengbao Sub-Brand
A year ago, we were introduced to YangWang, the very Chinese-sounding new luxury brand from car giant BYD. Then it immediately presented two models, the hypercar U9 and the somewhat Land Rover Defender-looking U8. The latter seems to be crossing over to Europe.
Not only that, the sub-brand Fangchengbao would also be available with the Bao 5. There are reports of patent plates that were registered in Europe, so the arrival of the Bao 5 seems very likely. By the way, the YangWang U7 recently appeared in European patents, so perhaps it will also be included in the long term. With the YangWang U7, the Chinese seem to want to launch an attack on the Mercedes-Benz EQE.
The SUV, the YangWang U8, is 5.3 meters long, has four electric motors with a combined 1,100 hp, and even has a real ‘crab mode’. This allows the electric SUV to move sideways. In China, the U8 has a starting price of around €140,000. It is not yet entirely clear what the YangWang U7 sedan has to offer. The Fangchengbao Bao 5 is a plug-in hybrid with a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine and two electric motors that together generate almost 700 hp.
