LASEMA Attends 1,675 Incidents In 2024, Truck/Tanker, Road Accidents Ranked Highest

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said it responded to 1,675 incidents between 1st January and 31st December 2024, adding that the highest number of incidents were recorded in December, February and March when it attended to 167, 156 and 148 incidents respectively.





“The lowest number of incidents was recorded in August, Y2024, with 121 cases, followed by July with 123 cases then June and September placing third with 126 cases each.”

Analysis of the 1,675 incidents attended to in 2024 reveals that Truck/Tanker/Trailer category ranked highest with 345 Accidents, 129 Broken Down Trucks and 19 Fallen Trucks/Tankers, 10 Fallen Containers and 4 Stuck Trucks – for a total of 507 incidents.

Road Accidents/Crashes Category was second with 438 Vehicle Accidents, 18 Broken Down Vehicles and 2 others, while Fire Disaster Category placed third with 266 Fire Outbreaks, 7 Tanker/Truck Fires, and 12 Vehicular (Car/BRT) fires.

Nigeria Customs Generated ₦6.1 Trillion Revenue In 2024, Targets ₦6.58 Trillion In 2025

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced it collected the sum of ₦6.1 trillion in revenue for the year 2024. This surpassed its target of ₦5.07 trillion by ₦1.03 trillion (20.2% increase above the target).

Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, who made this known during a press briefing, noted that the 2024 revenue marks an increase of ₦2.9 trillion (+90.4%) compared to the ₦3.2 trillion revenue recorded in 2023.

Highlighting this achievement, he said:





“In 2024, we collected a total of ₦6.1 trillion, surpassing our target of ₦5.07 trillion by ₦1.026 trillion, which represents a 22 per cent increase over our target for the year.”

On its target for 2025, NCS said :

“The Federal Government has set an ambitious revenue target of ₦6.58 trillion for the Service, a target that reflects both the government’s confidence in our capabilities and the expanding scope of our operations.”

LAMATA Acquires Six New Trains To Boost The Operations Of Lagos Blue Line Services

The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has announced the procurement of six (6) new rolling stocks to boost the operations of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue and Red line train services.

LAMATA made this known via a statement on its social media platforms on Thursday. It added that the six trains sets are scheduled for shipment to Lagos from China.

“Six additional train sets will be in Lagos very soon to strengthen the capacity of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue and Red Lines to deliver value to commuters and thereby increase the economic viability of the state.”

“The six trains sets, which have scaled the factory acceptance testhurdle, are scheduled for shipment to Lagos from China.”

LASTMA Attends 2,051 Road Traffic Incidents Involving 3,754 Vehicles In 2024, Rescued 1,075 Lives

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has published its remarkable accomplishments for the year 2024, which includes rescuing of 1,075 lives from the brink of road traffic catastrophes.

Between January and December, the Agency said it addressed 2,051 road traffic incidents categorized as 143 fatal accidents, 502 severe accidents and 1,406 minor accidents, which encompasses an astonishing 3,754 vehicles.

In tandem with its accident response efforts, LASTMA also resolved 5,108 cases of vehicular breakdowns, which comprises of 423 cars, 746 buses, 219 SUVs, 1,649 trucks, 400 tankers, 535 trailers and 1,118 others.

Last year, LASTMA’s toll-free hotline (080000527862), which enables Lagosians to report traffic obstructions, vehicular breakdowns, emergencies, and the conduct of LASTMA personnel, also received 3,567 calls across multiple languages, including English, Pidgin, and Yoruba.
