Lagos Bus Services Marks Five Years Of Operations, Says 52 Million People Have Been Transported

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL), Idowu Oguntona, says that the company has transported more than 52 million people since its inception 5 years ago.

The CEO of LBSL made this known on Friday June 7th 2024 during a fitness walk and health check organised by the organisation for its staff as part of activities to mark five its years of operation in the State.





While speaking on some of the landmark achievements of the Company, he stated that LBSL, which started with just five routes and 50 buses in 2019, now boasts of over 30 routes and 300 buses as at today.

Oguntona also disclosed that the company had so far covered over 27 million kilometres and constantly provided mobility for 60,000 Lagos residents on daily basis.

Customs Commends Officers For Rejecting N1.5 Million Bribe, N300k Cash From Rail Track Vandals

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Sokoto/Zamfara Command, has commended his officers for rejecting a bribe of N1.5 million offered by three suspects arrested in connection with railway track vandalism.

In a press briefing held at the command on June 10 2024, Comptroller of the Command, Kamal Mohammed stated that :

“On the 8 of June, our officers intercepted a 20-footer truck containing vandalised railway tracks along with three suspects. They couldn’t tender evidence from the Federal Ministry of Transport and instead offered a bribe to the tune of 1.5 million naira with an advance cash offer of N300,000. Out of patriotism and integrity, the officers chose the path of honour by detaining them at the command headquarters.

“As we are all aware, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is the agency mandated to secure critical National assets; conforming with the CGC’s policy thrust of collaboration, the Area Command will hand over the suspects, truck and its content, and the sum of N300,000 cash to the commander NSCDC Sokoto command for further investigation and prosecution,” the CAC stated.





Nigeria Customs Announces Verification Exercise For Privately Owned Aircrafts

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced a verification exercise for privately owned aircraft operating in Nigeria.

In a statement, the NCS explains that this exercise aims to identify improperly imported private aircraft without documentation, ensuring proper imports and maximum revenue collection.

The verification exercise is scheduled to take place as follows :

Date : June 19 – July 19, 2024

Venue : Tariff and Trade Department Room, Nigeria Customs Service Headquarters, No 4 Abidjan Street, Wuse Zone 3, Abuja.

Time: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm daily

Sanwo-Olu Commissions CKD Plant At Dangote Sinotruk That Can Produce 10,000 Trucks Per Year

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday June 9th, commissioned the Complete Knock-Down (CKD) plant at Dangote Sinotruk West Africa Limited in the Ikeja area of the state.

Sanwo-Olu, who made this known via his X handle on Sunday, stated that the CKD plant at Dangote Sinotruk West Africa has the capacity to assemble and produce 10,000 trucks annually.

He wrote:

“Today, I joined the President of the Senate, Hon. Godswill Akpabio for the commissioning of the CKD plant at Dangote Sinotruk West Africa Limited in Ikeja.

“With the capacity to assemble and produce 10,000 trucks annually, Dangote Sinotruk West Africa is set to create about 3,000 jobs across Nigeria.
