Defective Instrumental Display Makes Hyundai Recall Over 90000 Tucson SUVs
Hyundai has issued a formal recall for 96,310 SUVs due to a potential defect that may cause the instrument panel display to become non-functional while the vehicle is in operation.
The recall impacts 2025-2026 Hyundai Tucson models, including both hybrid variants. According to the official recall report, a software logic conflict between the instrument panel and the head-up display may cause the display to reboot intermittently during vehicle operation.
Should this malfunction occur, drivers may lose visibility of critical vehicle instrumentation, such as the speedometer, fuel gauge, and essential safety notifications. Consequently, vehicles affected by this defect fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
Hyundai initiated an investigation in July 2025 following customer reports regarding intermittent display failures. After a ten-month inquiry, the manufacturer identified an intermittent connection issue within the head-up display’s external harness as the root cause, leading to the issuance of this recall.
To date, Hyundai has reported no accidents, fires, injuries, or fatalities associated with this defect. The automaker will advise owners of affected vehicles to visit an authorized Hyundai dealership for an instrument panel software update. Additionally, the company is currently developing an over-the-air (OTA) software patch, which will be released to owners as soon as it becomes available.
