FBI Seizes Rare Mercedes CLK-GTR Worth $13M In Hunt For Former Olympian Who Turned Drug Lord
FBI seizes rare Mercedes CLK-GTR worth $13m in hunt for former Canadian olympian who allegedly turned drug lord.
One of just six CLK GTR roadsters ever built, FBI estimate this sought-after hypercar to be worth $13m in today’s marketplace.
One of these impressive CLK GTRs sold for $10.2 million at RM Sotheby’s auction in Las Vegas on 17 November 2023.
CLK GTR is powered by 6.9-litre V12, which makes 600-hp and allows it to reach 62 mph in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 214mph.

FBI has seized a rare 2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR roadster from a drug ring with alleged ties to Ryan Wedding, a former Canadian Olympic snowboarder who is now one of the FBI’s 10 most-wanted fugitives.

“Once a Canadian Olympic snowboarder, Wedding turned to a life of crime as a transnational narcotics trafficker. According to a new indictment announced last week, Wedding is accused of ordering the murder of a federal witness before he could testify against Wedding,” FBI said in a statement.
This announcement comes weeks after the U.S. Government upped the reward for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of Ryan James Wedding to $15 million.

Excluding two prototypes, just twenty-six (26) versions of the roadgoing CLK GTR were produced between 1998 and 2006, including 20 coupés and 6 of these GTR roadsters.
The CLK GTR is powered by 6.9-litre V12 which makes just over 600 horses and 572 torque. Thanks to its aerodynamically adapted race car-like silhoutte, the CLK GTR needs only 3.8 seconds to dart to 62 mph from rest onto a top speed of 214mph.
