Ferrari says new state-of-the-art facility dubbed “e-building” will boost flexibility, shorten time to produce new cars.

In addition to petrol and hybrid cars, Ferrari said that the new plant will also produce its first fully electric (EV) car.

CEO Benedetto Vigna said that Ferrari was not pushing for volume but for revenues through personalisations.

Ferrari’s first electric car will cost at least 500,000 euros ($535,000), a source familiar with the matter told Reuters.

Last week, Ferrari unveiled its new state-of-the-art production facility in Maranello, Italy to help boost manufacturing flexibility and reduce the time required to develop and produce new models.

In addition to petrol and hybrid cars, Ferrari said that the new 42,500 square metre (457,466 sq. ft) facility, dubbed the “e-building,” will also produce its first fully electric car, which scheduled to begin rolling off the new EV production line in January 2026.

At the unveiling on Friday, Benedetto Vigna, the CEO of the Italian sports car manufacturer said that Ferrari was not pushing for volume but for revenues through personalisations.

“This building will allow us to shorten time to market or product development time,” he said.

“We want to have more tools, technology tools … more flexibility to accommodate the need of more personalisation of our clients.”

“So, more money per car basically. We want to grow the company but not because we increase volumes.” he added.

Ferrari’s first electric car will cost at least 500,000 euros ($535,000), a source familiar with the matter told Reuters, although CEO Benedetto Vigna refused to confirm the report during the opening of the brand’s new plant.
