FG Officially Launches Distribution Of 2,000 CNG-powered Tricycles To Empower Youth - autojosh

The Presidential CNG Initiative (PCNG-i) launches distribution of 2,000 CNG-powered tricycles to empower Nigerian youth.

The distribution of CNG-powered tricycles kicked off on Tuesday October 1st 2024 at the Old Parade Ground in Abuja.

Initiative is part of efforts by the FG to empower the youth and to reduce transportation costs for Nigerians.

FG confirm that plans are in place to expand the distribution of CNG-powered tricycles to other states in the country.





The Presidential CNG Initiative (PCNG-i) and the Federal Ministry of Youth has officially launched the distribution of 2,000 Compressed Natural Gas-powered tricycles as part of efforts to empower the youth and to reduce transportation costs for Nigerians.

The program, which kicked off on Tuesday October 1st 2024 at the Old Parade Ground in Abuja, aimed at providing over 2000 young Nigerians with the opportunity to own and operate CNG-powered tricycles.

The event was attended by the Director General National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Mr Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin and Alhaji Usman Ngwoza, President of the National Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Association,

Speaking at the event, Engr. Michael Olugbemi, the PI-CNG Programme Director, highlighted the initiative’s significance.

“A year ago, the President committed to improving the lives of Nigerians by implementing the Presidential Compressed Gas Initiative, which will lessen our reliance on petrol and decrease government spending on fuel subsidies,” he stated.





Also speaking at the event, Ayodele Olawande Wisdom, State Minister of Youth, praised the initiative as a step towards involving youth in sustainable transportation. He emphasized efforts to reach out to tricycle owners and operators, noting, “All tricycle riders and owners are part of the youth of this country.”

Also in attendance was Dr. Maurice Nnamdi Mbaeri, Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, who confirmed that plans are in place to expand the distribution of CNG-powered tricycles to other states in the country.
