Chinese carmaker Nio has unveiled the all-new ET9 executive electric sedan during the company’s “Nio Day” annual event on Saturday. The new flagship model is designed to rival the likes of Mercedes-Maybach EQS, Lucid Air and Porsche Panamera.

One of the standout features on the ET9 is its smooth suspension technology, dubbed the SkyRide Fully Active Suspension system, which Nio’s founder and Chief Executive William Li says is “a generation ahead of Panamera’s”.

“The ET9 will be the best model showcasing Nio’s excellence in driving technological innovations.”

Nio’s Sky Ride technology system is designed to offer drivers and passengers a smooth and comfortable ride even when the ET9 navigates bumpy roads, Li said.

The ET9 has a 128-inch ultra-long wheelbase, rides on an 23-inch wheels and boasts of NIO’s super computing platform Adam 2.0, which supports Nio Assisted and Intelligent Driving (NAD), digital cockpit, intelligent chassis, body, e-powertrain, and cloud.

In addition, it is equipped with a swappable 120kW lithium-ion battery pack, a 900V ultra-fast charging adds 255km with a 5-minute charge while a swapping platform allows a 3-minute battery swap.

The first-class cabin is best enjoyed from the rear with its two rear seats, two 14.5-inch OLED screens affixed to the back of the front seats, fold-out table and a 10-liter mini fridge – which adds to the private jet experience.

Starting price at around 800,000 yuan (or around $112,000 at today’s rates), the Shanghai-based carmaker expects to start delivery of the new flagship ET9 model in the first quarter of 2025.
