Ford Recalls F-150 Pickups From 2021 To 2022 Due To Potential Driveshaft Damage
Ford has recalled nearly 185,000 F-150 trucks from the 2021 and 2022 model years due to a problem with the driveshaft.
The recall will affect 184,698 F-150 pickups from the 2021 and 2022 model years. This became necessary to address a problem with two underbody acoustic/thermal insulators. According to Ford, these could become loose and come into contact with the truck’s aluminum driveshaft, causing damage or even fracture. The issue is limited to 4×4 SuperCrew models with the 145-inch wheelbase and the optional sound insulation package, and Ford estimates that only 10% of the recalled trucks will have the defect. There have been no reports of accidents or injuries as a result of the problem, which Ford began investigating in July.
Owners should look for warning signs such as a loose insulator under the vehicle or a “rattling, clicking, or clunking noise” that indicates an insulator touching the driveshaft. By mid-November, Ford had stopped producing trucks with the faulty insulator.

According to the recall report filed with the NHTSA, Ford stopped producing trucks with the faulty insulator by mid-November.
Ford has begun notifying dealers and will begin mailing letters to owners of recalled trucks on January 31. Owners can check the NHTSA recalls website to see if their vehicle is affected in the meantime.
