Ford’s ‘Men’s Only Edition’ Explorer Doesn’t Have Car Features Developed By Women
Ford’s fictitious ‘Men’s Only Edition’ Explorer sports utility vehicle (SUV) doesn’t have car features developed by women.
Lacks essential features developed by women, including heaters, windshield wipers, turn signals, brake lights, and GPS.
Celebrates International Women’s Day, Women’s History Month and many innovations developed by women engineers and inventors.
Among women who helped developed groundbreaking features are Hedy Lamarr, Florence Lawrence, Dorothy Levitt, Dorothée Pullinger, and Gladys West.
Ford has unveiled a imaginary “Ford Explorer Men’s Only Edition”, a completely reimagined vehicle without many of the essential features developed by women, including heaters, windshield wipers, turn signals, brake lights, and GPS.
As expected, this non-roadworthy model lacking most of today’s basic car features will never make it to production, but celebrates International Women’s Day, Women’s History Month and the many innovations of the past and present developed by women engineers and inventors.

“Yes, you read that right. This Women’s History Month, we salute the contributions women have made to the automotive industry by literally taking those contributions out. No heat. No brake lights. No GPS. And no way we’d be here today or where we’re going tomorrow without them.”, Ford said in its Ad.
Among historic women who helped developed Groundbreaking car features are Hedy Lamarr, who developed communication system used in cellular technology, Wi-Fi and GPS and Florence Lawrence, the Pioneer of brake and turn signals.
Also on the lists are British racing driver and journalist, Dorothy Levitt, who created rearview mirror and pioneering automobile engineer, Dorothée Pullinger, the Innovator of the rearview mirror.
Gladys West, a mathematician was also named in Fords ad. West contributed to the development of GPS, which enables in-car navigation systems today.
