One of the most controversial CEOs in the history of the automotive industry, Carlos Ghosn, is not afraid to call a spade a spade. After calling Nissan “boring, average,” and in a “bad position,”  while describing the Renault-Nissan alliance as “small and fragile,”  the 70-year-old fugitive now has something to say about the newly formed Honda-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance.

In a new interview with Automotive News, Ghosn said Honda is planning a “stealth takeover” of Nissan and Mitsubishi. He believes that Honda is by far the largest of the three Japanese automakers, so he is putting the company “at the forefront” of this partnership to take control. The full details of the new contract have not been clarified, but the former man in charge of Nissan claims that Honda will decide everything.

“I can’t imagine for a second how that’s going to work between Honda and Nissan unless it’s a takeover of Nissan and Mitsubishi by Honda with Honda at the helm. It’s going to be a takeover, a covert takeover,” he said. Mr Ghosn told Automotive News that a relationship with Honda was never an option during his tenure at Nissan.
