Former Toyota Plant in Saint Petersburg that makes Camry and RAV4 to begin serial production in early-mid 2026.
Earlier, it was stated that the former Toyota plant in Saint Petersburg was planned to produce Aurus vehicles.
Toyota officially stopped vehicle production at its plant in St. Petersburg following Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Commissioned at the end of 2007, the facility, with an annual output of 100,000 vehicles, produced RAV4 and Camry models.
Serial production at the former Toyota plant in Saint Petersburg will commence in early to mid-2026, Chairman of the City Committee on Industrial Policy, Innovation and Trade, Alexander Sitov, has told Russian state-owned news agency, TASS.
Following the plant’s relaunch in early to mid-2026 by participants, including Gazprom and Kamaz, Gazprom, production is planned at 1,000 vehicles per year.
“Currently, the timeline for serial production is early to mid-next year. After the relaunch, output will reach 1,000 cars per year. We are communicating the timelines provided by the relaunch participants – Kamaz, Gazprom, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and their partner,” he said.
Earlier, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov stated that luxury car maker, Aurus, would start manufacturing a new line of business-class vehicles at the former Toyota plant in partnership with a foreign partner.
Amid Russian invasion of Ukraine on 1 March 2022, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Russia (TMMR) officially stopped vehicle production at its plant in St. Petersburg in September 2022 due to the interruption in supplies of key materials and parts.
Commissioned at the end of 2007, the facility, designed for an annual output of 100,000 vehicles, produced RAV4 and Camry models under a special investment contract with the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
