Fake LASTMA Officer Who Makes ₦35,000 Daily Sentenced To 2 Years Imprisonment
The Lagos State Special Offences (Mobile) Court on Monday, 27th of March, 2023 sentenced an arrested fake LASTMA officer, Omotutu Bamidele, to a 2- year jail term for impersonating and extorting money from motorists across Lagos.
Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) had over the weekend nabbed 55 year old Omotutu Bamidele around Ikoyi area of Lagos.
The suspect confessed to extorting money from motorists particularly private car owners/drivers at highbrow areas across the State. He said he and his colleagues are making an average of ₦35,000 from extortions on daily basis.

BRT Bus Fare Returns To Normal Rate On Saturday 1st April 2023 – LAMATA
The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) on Tuesday (today) March 28th has announced that the BRT bus fares will revert to 100 per cent (normal) rate on Saturday 1st April 2023.
Recall that Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had on Wednesday, 8th February 2023 approved a 50% slash in bus fares following the cash crunch brought about by the recent currency swap.
A statement posted to LAMATA’s social media platforms reads :
“With effect from Saturday, 1st April, bus fare on all regulated buses BRT, Standard and FLM – shall revert to 100 per cent rate.”
“Following the Supreme Court and Federal Government’s pronouncements on the use of old notes alongside the new notes and return of stability to the system, the 50% rebate is hereby discontinued.”
“Consequently, bus fares return to pre-50% slash rate effective Saturday 1st April 2023. Thank you for your understanding.”
LASG Reiterates Ban On Commercial Motorcycles In Restricted Areas
The Lagos State Government has reiterated that the ban on commercial motorcycles popularly called ‘Okada’ in 10 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 15 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across the State is still in force.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa disclosed this at weekend while on a tour of some restricted areas within the State, where large numbers of motorcyclists (okada riders) had resumed operations.
He reaffirmed the State Government’s ban on okada in the Local Government Areas which include Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo, Somolu, Mushin, Apapa, Ikeja, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, Surulere and Eti-Osa, as well as the Local Council Development Areas under them, including Ojodu, Onigbongbo, Lagos Island East, Yaba and Coker-Aguda.
Others, according to him are Itire-Ikate, Eti-Osa West, Iru Victoria Island, Ikoyi-Obalende, Ikosi-Isheri, Agboyi-Ketu, Isolo, Ejigbo, Bariga and Odi-Olowo.
