Hyundai And Genesis To Roll Out 36 New/Updated Models In 5 Years

Between now and the end of 2030, Hyundai plans to introduce 36 new or revised models in North America. The next-generation Elantra and Tucson will make their premiere in South Korea this year, so expect to see them in the United States as early as 2027, according to CEO José Muñoz’s letter to shareholders.

Over the next five years, Hyundai plans to flood the U.S. market with trucks, SUVs, passenger cars, and commercial vehicles. The model assault will be complemented by several trim levels, such as the robust XRT and the high-performance N. There will be a wide variety of gasoline, hybrid, and electric vehicle models to suit every taste and desire. Range-extending electric vehicles, which use a combustion engine to produce power and charge the battery, are also on the horizon.

Genesis is also keeping busy in the luxury market, with plans to introduce 22 vehicles in the same time span. Similar to its parent corporation, certain vehicles will be passenger cars rather than SUVs. With new derivatives, additional trim levels, and next-generation powertrains, Hyundai’s rival to Mercedes also hopes to diversify the roster.

Hopefully, some of the audacious Genesis ideas that have recently surfaced may find their way into production. While the G90 Wingback would be a welcome addition above the G70 Shooting Brake, which regrettably isn’t available in the US, the X Gran Equator has genuine potential as a Mercedes G-Class substitute.

Elsewhere, the newly founded Magma lineup of performance models will be topped by a production version of the GT concept, which will serve as a full-fledged supercar. At the other end of the lineup, the G70 may receive a second facelift and soldier on for a while, although Genesis has yet to confirm these reports.

By focusing on both the mainstream and luxury markets, the Hyundai Motor Group is giving the rivals a one-two punch. It seeks to provide something for everyone, with a huge $26 billion investment anticipated in the US to support these efforts. The next five years will be very active, with 58 models between the two brands.
