Idiroko Customs Seizes 101 Trailers Of Foreign Rice, 27 Used Vehicles, Tyres In 13 Months, Acquires New Ambulance - autojosh

Idiroko Customs seizes 101 trailers of foreign rice, 27 used vehicles, tyres, others worth N1.5 billion in 13 Months.

Customs disclosed that about N44 million was generated from the auctioning of seized items over the period under review.

The Idiroko Command also announced the acquisition of a new Ambulance in an effort to improve its medical care.





The Nigeria Customs Service Ogun 1 Area Command with headquarters in Idiroko has announced the seizures of goods worth about N1.5 billion (N1,484,422,447).

This was stated in a press conference by the Customs Area Controller Ogun 1 Command Idiroko, Comptroller Dera Nnadi, Comptroller on Monday. Nnadi said the seizures were made over the period of 13 months (Jan-Dec. 2021 and Jan. 2022).

Items seized include 101 trailer loads of Foreign parboiled rice, 27 units of used Vehicles, 231 units of Means of conveyance, 1,353 cartons of Frozen poultry products, and 15,000 litres of Petroleum products (PMS),

Others items seized include 17 bales of second-hand Clothings, 127 small bags and 15 big sacks of Cannabis Sativa, Vegetable oil, poultry products, used tyres, second-hand clothing, dangerous drugs (tramadol and cannabis Sativa), palm oil, assorted soaps and cream.

Nnadi also disclosed that N43,921,205.50 revenue was generated from the auctioning of seized items over the period under review.





According to him, a remarkable increase in the number and quantities of seizures was recorded in the month of January, 2022 due to “aggressive stakeholder’s engagement and management, Deployment of intelligence in all the operations across the state, Structural reorganization of the Command, Improved motivation of officers by the NCS Management and Improved discipline and total dedication to duty by officers of the Command.”

He explained that in an effort to fight against the smuggling of narcotics, officers come under sustained harassment and attacks from daredevil smugglers and their supporters/sympathizers who use pump action riffles, AK47 rifles, local charms and other dangerous weapons to attack, kill and maim Officers.

“We wish to reiterate that the sustained attack on operatives of NCS and other sister Agencies will not deter us from the continued performance of our legitimate duties in Ogun State.” he said.

Nnadi in his remarks assures commitment to vehemently resist smuggling in the Area Command. He further warned perpetrators to avoid smuggling and attack on Security agencies performing their legitimate duties.

The Idiroko command also announced the acquisition of a brand new ambulance in an effort to improve its medical care.
