Jibowu And Yaba Level Crossing To Be Closed Temporarily For Railway Modernisation Project

The Lagos State Government has announced the temporary closure of Jibowu Level Crossing to vehicular movement between 6.00pm on Friday, February 21, 2020, to 12.00pm on Saturday, February 22, 2020, for the installation of Level Crossing Rubber Panels. The temporal closure of Jibowu and Yaba level crossing is as a result of the ongoing Nigerian Railway Modernisation Project (Lagos-Ibadan section).
There would be a diversion for motorists plying Jibowu Level Crossing to Ilupeju, Ogunmokun and Yaba Level crossing in order to ease the traffic flow along the corridor.

Similarly, Yaba Level Crossing will also be on temporal closure from 8.00pm on Saturday, February 22, 2020, to 12.00pm on Sunday, February 23. Road users intending to ply Yaba Level Crossing should reroute through Ilupeju, Ogunmokun and Jibowu Level Crossing to access their desired destinations.
While imploring motorists to comply with the traffic directions to reduce inconvenience in traffic movement around the axis, the statement apologized to the residents for the temporary discomfort that might result from the closure of Jibowu and Yaba Level Crossing for the railway project.
The Federal Government is currently constructing a railway line connecting Lagos to Ibadan. The railway line is going to be the first Double Standard railway line in Nigeria. The 156 kilometers railway track is being built according to Chinese standard and technology. The project which will cost $1.6billion dollars has employed the services of about 7000 Nigerians in the construction.
