Lafarge Africa Goes Eco-friendly With The Addition Of Electric Truck To Its Supply Fleet - autojosh

Lagos-based Lafarge Africa plc goes eco-friendly with the addition of Electric Vehicle (EV) truck to its supply fleet.

Introduction of the EV truck signals Lafarge Africa’s transition to a more eco-friendly and sustainable transportation practices.

Its commitment to reduce its carbon footprint began in 2017 with the introduction of five Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks to its fleet.

Lafarge’s effort towards a cleaner supply saw the integration of an additional 50 CNG trucks into our operations in 2021.





Lafarge Africa Plc, a Lagos-based Cement Manufacturing Company, has added an eco-friendly Sinotruck HOWO electric truck to its supply fleet, marking a significant shift towards a cleaner, more efficient, and sustainable supply chain.

This significant milestone, in partnership with Tolaram, marks the first-of-its-kind in Africa, underscoring the company’s unwavering commitment to sustainable practices and innovative solutions for a greener future.

Speaking at the launch of the EV Truck at the company’s Ewekoro factory, Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, the GMD/CEO, Lafarge Africa Plc, said:





“We mark yet another significant milestone in our sustainability journey. We are proud to announce the launch of the first-ever Heavy Goods Electric Vehicle (EV) truck in Nigeria, an achievement that not only highlights our commitment to innovation but also solidifies our position as pioneers in the pursuit of environmentally responsible practices within our industry.”

Lafarge Africa said its commitment to reduce its carbon footprint began in 2017 with the introduction of five Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks to its fleet, an efforts that also saw the integration of an additional 50 CNG trucks into our operations in in 2021.

In his remarks, Osaze Aghatise, the Logistics Director, Lafarge Africa Plc said :

“The introduction of the EV Truck signifies an important achievement in our logistics strategy, signaling our transition to more eco-friendly and sustainable transportation practices.

“Our aim is to incorporate more EV Trucks into our fleet in the near future alongside our exploration of other sustainable transportation initiatives. This exemplifies our unwavering dedication to taking a leadership role within our industry, fostering the development of competitive and sustainable supply chain.”
