Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL) marks five years of operations, says 52 million people have been transported since 2019.

MD says, LBSL, which started with just five routes and 50 buses in 2019, now boasts of over 30 routes and 300 buses as at today.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL), Idowu Oguntona, says that the company has transported more than 52 million people since its inception 5 years ago.





The CEO of LBSL made this known on Friday June 7th 2024 during a fitness walk and health check organised by the organisation for its staff as part of activities to mark five its years of operation in the State.

While speaking on some of the landmark achievements of the Company, he stated that LBSL, which started with just five routes and 50 buses in 2019, now boasts of over 30 routes and 300 buses as at today.

Oguntona also disclosed that the company had so far covered over 27 million kilometres and constantly provided mobility for 60,000 Lagos residents on daily basis.

Speaking further, the Managing Director of LBSL informed that there is much to expect from the organization going forward.

“In keeping in line with the vision of President Bola Tinubu on a clean and green economy, it means that public transportation will be running on clean energy, leveraging the huge gas possibility that we have to power our buses.

“We have started a pilot with the private sector under the leadership of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) to see how the buses can perform in our environment”, he noted.

Also speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, commended LBSL for their exceptional efforts in transforming the transportation landscape of Lagos State and for successfully bridging the gap in the state’s transportation system

Osiyemi stated that the Company’s dedication to enhancing public transport experience and service delivery has not only improved daily commutes but also set a new standard in the industry.
