LAMATA Signs Contracts For QBCs Project to Enhance Lagos Bus Services - autojosh

LAMATA set to enhance the city’s public transportation system through the Quality Bus Corridor (QBC) Project

QBC Project is aimed at improving the bus services and overall commuting experience for residents.

It include the construction of bus shelters, installation of priority signals, and creation of laybys to prioritize bus movement.

Funded by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), the QBC Project, divided into three sections—QBC Packages 1, 2 and 3. 





The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has signed contracts to kickstart the Quality Bus Corridor (QBC) Project, which is aimed at improving the bus services and overall commuting experience for residents.

“We are dedicated to partnering with all relevant parties to ensure a seamless transition and deliver a project that will benefit everyone in Lagos,” said the agency’s Managing Director Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, at the signing of the contracts.

Funded by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), the QBC Project, divided into three sections—QBC Packages 1, 2, and 3 — are designed to ensure faster, more efficient travel across the city.

The QBC project will involve upgrading existing road infrastructure, introducing Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), constructing a bus depot, upgrading traffic signalization at major junctions, and installing solar-powered streetlights.

According to LAMATA, QBC Package 1 is awarded to China Road & Bridge Construction Company and will cover Ketu-Alapere-Akanimodo and Yaba-Lawanson-Cele routes.





QBC Package 2, awarded to Trucrete Solutions Limited is for the Iju-Ishaga-Abule-Egba route, while QBC Package 3, awarded to Craneburg Construction Company, covers the Iyana-Iba-Igando route.

The project will also include the construction of bus shelters, installation of priority signals, and creation of laybys to prioritize bus movement and enhance the commuting experience for Lagos residents.
