Lamborghini Marks 50 Years Since Production Of First Countach, First Ever Car Poses With New Revuelto - autojosh

1974 – 2024 : Automobili Lamborghini marks 50 years since production of the first Countach supercar.

To mark the occasion, Lamborghini brought together the first Countach LP 400 and the Revuelto for a past and present photo shoot.

During the 16 years of production of the Lamborghini Countach, 1999 units of the iconic supercar were produced.

These includes 152 units of the LP 400 (1974-1978), the first version of the Countach nicknamed “Periscopio”.

Automobili Lamborghini is celebrating 50 years since mass production of the now legendary Countach V12 supercar started at its factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese in March of 1974.

To mark the occasion, the Italian sports car marque brought together the very first Countach LP 400 and Lamborghini’s latest flagship, Revuelto, to the same production line for a past and present photo shoot.

“We are proud to still be producing our super sports car models in the place where the Countach was created,” commented Ranieri Niccoli, Lamborghini’s Chief Manufacturing Officer.

“Production has radically changed since then and there was a marked transformation of many aspects starting with the production of the Countach right through to today’s models.

First introduced as Countach LP 500 at the Geneva Motor Show on 11 March 1971, the original Lamborghini Countach immediately became a legend, thanks to its futuristic design, including its scissors doors.

In addition to being the first Lamborghini whose bodywork was made “in-house” with panel-beating carried out by hand, the Countach was also first whose interiors were produced by the Lamborghini Upholstery Department.

During the 16 years of production of the Lamborghini Countach, 1999 units of the iconic supercar were produced, including 152 units of the LP 400 (1974-1978) – the first version of the Countach nicknamed “Periscopio”.

Other versions of the Countach produced includes the LP 400 S (1978-1982), the 5000 S (1982-1984), the Countach Quattrovalvole and the Countach 25th Anniversary (1988-1990), which was created to celebrate 25 years since the foundation of the company.
