LEADERSHIP 2023 Conference And Awards : LAMATA boss rewarded for delivering the Blue and Red Rail Lines to the people of Lagos State.

This year’s LEADERSHIP Conference and Awards celebrated exceptional leadership and performance across the country.

LASG now boasts of two rail lines – the Blue and Red Rail Lines, with both projects managed by the LAMATA.





The Managing Director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, was recognized for her outstanding leadership and performance at this year’s LEADERSHIP 2023 Conference and Awards.

At the event held on Tuesday March 5th 2024 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotels in Abuja, Engr. Akinajo, represented by Mrs. Yetunde Audifferen, received the Public Service Person of the Year Award.

Like the previous edition, this year’s 15th edition of the LEADERSHIP Conference and Awards celebrated exceptional leadership and performance across the country.

According to a statement by LAMATA, Akinajo’s recognition stemmed from her remarkable achievements in delivering the Blue and Red rail lines to the people of Lagos State.

“The event celebrated exceptional leadership and performance across the country, and Engr. Akinajo’s recognition stemmed from her remarkable achievements in delivering the Blue and Red rail lines to the people of Lagos State.

“Her dedication and commitment to public service has been widely applauded, making her a worthy recipient of this prestigious award.”





The Lagos Blue and Red Rail Lines

The Lagos State Government, headed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, now boasts of two rail lines – the Blue and Red Rail Lines, with both projects currently being managed by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA).

While the Blue Line moved 583,000 passengers in 4 months (as at January) along the Marina and Mile 2 route, the Red Line Rail commissioned by President Tinubu on February 29th is expected to carry 500,000 passengers per day.
