All-new McLaren W1 Sports Car Will Arrive On Oct 6 As Successor To Legendary F1 And P1
British sports car brand, McLaren, is set to release a new flagship model called the W1 on Sunday October 6th 2024.
Debut date mark the 50th anniversary of the manufacturer’s first Formula 1 championship.
New flagship car follows on from the legendary F1 from the 1990s and its successor, the hybrid P1, which launched in 2013.
McLaren said the ‘1’ pushes the boundaries of what’s achievable, embodies fine poetry between design and engineering.
British sports car brand, McLaren, is set to release a new flagship model called the ‘W1‘ on Sunday October 6th — a date that marks the 50th anniversary of the manufacturer’s first Formula 1 championship.
“Today we have confirmed the next chapter in the extraordinary story of its legendary ‘1’ car lineage. Our new supercar, named McLaren W1, will be revealed at 13:00 BST on Sunday, 6 October 2024,” said McLaren.
McLaren is yet to reveal technical details of the W1, but it said that the new flagship car will follow on from the legendary F1 from the 1990s and its era-defining successor, the hybrid P1, which launched in 2013.
In a video dubbed “What Makes A ‘1’ Car?”, McLaren said “the ‘1’ relentlessly pushes the boundaries of what’s achievable, embodying the fine poetry between design and engineering.
In the video, which showcases the F1, its first-ever roadcar, and the P1 hybrid supercar, McLaren added that “these timeless, uncompromising vehicles have set the standard for a generation.”
Speaking further on the long-awaited successor to the P1, McLaren CEO, Michael Leiters, said :
“The McLaren W1 is defined by real supercar principles and is the ultimate expression of a McLaren supercar. Born of our rich racing history and World Championship mindset, W1 pushes the boundaries of performance and is worthy of the ‘1’ name.”
