Meet The XM ‘Soundmachine’, The ultimate one-off rolling DJ Stage built by BMW’s apprentices at its plant in Dingolfing.

Powering the sound, screen and lighting systems is the XM Label’s hybrid system, which allows these DJ systems operate autonomously for up to one hour.

Last month, BMW participated in the 2026 Electric Mountain Festival in Sölden, Austria, debuting a unique XM Label SUV-based rolling professional DJ stage created by apprentices at the BMW Group plant in Dingolfing.

Known as the ‘BMW XM Label Soundmachine’, the mobile DJ stage was built by a five-member cross-functional core team—including automotive mechatronics specialists, painters, bodywork technicians, machining specialists and electronics engineers.

To create the XM Label Soundmachine, the apprentice modified the roof area to accommodate artists and their equipment. This space features a double-sided LED screen, a dBTechnologies sound system with active speakers and subwoofers, and a professional Pioneer DJ setup.

Powering the sound, screen and lighting systems is the XM Label’s hybrid system. It utilizes a 25.7 kWh lithium-ion battery, allowing these DJ systems operate autonomously for up to one hour without any external power supply.

Due to modifications, the BMW XM Label Soundmachine has a top speed of only 9.3 mph (15 km/h). For comparison, the base car has an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h), which increases to 180 mph (290 km/h) with the optional M Driver’s Package.

“The BMW XM Label, with its presence and power, truly belongs on stage… Our apprentices have done pioneering work in developing the BMW XM Soundmachine, taking full responsibility from the initial sketch to the finished stage car,” says Steffi Armbruster, Head of Brand Experience & Cooperations.

Following its premiere at the Electric Mountain Festival in Sölden, BMW will showcase the XM Soundmachine at several major European automotive events, including the MotoGP in Spielberg in September 2026.
