Mercedes Drivers Can Now Control Their Smart Homes While Behind The Wheels With MBUX Voice Assistant
Mercedes-Benz drivers can now use MBUX Voice Assistant smart home function to control their smart homes.
The function helps monitor homes while your hands are safely on the steering wheel and their eyes on the traffic.
The smart home function is now available in all Mercedes vehicles equipped with MBUX Voice Assistant.
Mercedes has revealed a new Smart Home function to its Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) Voice Assistant, which enables drivers to remotely monitor and control their house all while their hands are safely on the steering wheel and their eyes on the traffic.
Now available in all Mercedes-Benz vehicles equipped with MBUX Voice Assistant, the new MBUX smart home function supports numerous devices offered by Philips Hue, Samsung SmartThings, TP-Link and myQ by Chamberlain Group made for certain lights, smart plugs, thermostats, motion detectors, and garage doors.
With the MBUX Voice Assistant smart home function, Mercedes-Benz shares how a dialogue between the driver or passenger and their smart home could sound using the MBUX Voice Assistant.
“Hey Mercedes, is there anybody in my home right now?” “I’ve had a look. The last movement was detected in the kitchen one hour ago.”
According to Mercedes, activating a smart home account does not require any package upgrades nor incur any costs for the user. In addition, the smart home accounts for the device(s) can easily be linked to the customer’s MBUX profile by simply saying, “Hey Mercedes, connect my smart home account” to generate a QR code in the central display and scan it with a smartphone.
For added convenience, Mercedes-Benz notes that appliances by different providers can be connected at the same time and answer questions simultaneously.
If a car owner asked if asking : “Hey Mercedes, is everything ok at home?”. The question causes all installed equipment to check their statuses and answer could be: “All the windows are closed, and the light is still on in the bedroom.”
In addition, smart home integration into MBUX Voice Assistant also allows users to check home motion detectors from their vehicle, which can help turn off the lights from the car (after a hasty departure) while at the comfort of their home.
